We've all done it—you stumble across a vintage shop and lay eyes on the most beautiful piece that you have NO IDEA how you'd wear it. If you're anything like me you buy it anyways, because 1)it's an investment and 2)you'll kick yourself in the butt when you see someone else rocking it effortlessly. All the above were my exact sentiments when I stumbled across this beautiful Kimono from www.vintiqueshop.com. Literally, it was love at first sight and I could barely contain my excitement as I was paying the invoice for the purchase (I'm talking happy dances and all). Kimonos aren't necessarily anything new in the world of fashion, but thanks to recent looks from elite street style stars, we are seeing them, especially longline styles, in a whole new light.
As I anxiously awaited the arrival of my package, the pressure of styling a piece this amazing started building tremendously. Finally I had a styling epiphany! The trick was simple: When mixing in a piece that's bold and out of the ordinary, wear it with the most simple closet staples you own. The kimono itself is such a soft and feminine piece and is going to offer me such versatility to the many basics in my closet. You can never go wrong using white denim as a foundation to your ensemble when wearing a bold look. Nude heels are basically all that I own now, so I knew picking a pair to compliment the softness of my look wouldn't be hard. I'm still SO IN LOVE with the perspex trend and shoe retailers, such as Public Desire, has done such as great job of keeping the trend alive with the many chic styles the have to offer. The see through toe strap and buckled ankle strap on the Alia style gives me SO much life as well as endless styling opportunities when I need a go-to neutral option.
I had so much fun shooting this look and got so many compliments as people passed by! Vintage styles can be intimidating sometimes and if you're looking for the perfect muse for vintage inspiration, I encouraged you to follow @vintiqueshop for a daily dose of amazing styles as well as @thevintiqueshop_, both ran and updated by it's lovely owner, Whitney Liddel. If you're like me, and don't live close enough to enjoy the shop in person, that's ok. Shopping online is super quick and a pleasurable shopping experience. Be sure you don't miss out on their unique collection of head turning vintage staples!
You'll definitely see this piece again so stay tuned. I know it's been awhile since my last post but thank you guys for your patience as I pushed through the business that came with changes added to my work plate. I'm so happy to be back and look forward to more content consistency as 2017 continues to progress. Blessings to you all and as always, Happy Styling!
